This workshop shares my experience with indigo dye, the most ancient dye in the world. We will use natural indigo to make the dye vat. Our method for making the indigo dye is based on Michel Garcia’s 1-2-3 technique, and is a non-toxic process. We will make the vat in the morning, and dye skeins in the afternoon. We will talk about the history of indigo dyeing in multiple countries and continents. Indigo dye is beautiful, and offers a range of blue color. It also combines well with other natural dyes.

Participants will bring (3) 1-ounce skeins of natural fiber to dye for three different shades of blue.
