Weaving Deflected Doubleweave - Where The Shuttle Meets the Shed
Weaving Deflected Doubleweave - Where The Shuttle Meets the Shed
Price: $375.00
SKU: workshop
Description:
Join Natalie Drummond in this workshop where you will explore basic doubleweave structure and behavior after sampling. Simple treadling designs are introduced in each sample so participants can determine how the block structure of this weave can be organized to produce their own woven project.
Along the way, you will also learn the basics of the “shuttle diving technique” for 4 to 8 shafts; how weavers address those wonky selvedges that deflected doubleweave produce; and about mixing fibers for optimal deflection and/or differential shrinkage. Explore different washing and finishing methods to determine appropriate deflection/differential shrinkage.
We finish up with a collaborative discussion of workshop samples prior to weaving the remaining warp as a scarf or runner.
You will arrive with a loom pre-warped with 4.5 yards of tencel and be encouraged to add additional dyed warp ends for optimal color.
